This is a vital ministry; it is involved in every service in some way, from the regular Sunday services to weddings, funerals, and the Wednesday noon healing service. The Guild is responsible for the preparation of the altar for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and assisting the clergy before and after the services. It is a wonderful ministry for those who prefer working behind the scenes. The Altar Guild is divided into four teams; each team serves one week a month (TBA). Each team sets and cleans up for all three Sunday services and the Wednesday healing service. Volunteers from each team make up special teams for the additional services during Advent and Lent and special services such as weddings and funerals.
This is a vital part of worship and parish life at St. Paul's. The Chancel Choir leads the music at the 10:30 o’clock service each Sunday—with special offerings throughout the liturgical year. The choir consists of all volunteers. There are no auditions. The hand bell choir meets at 5:15, the choir rehearses most Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in the Parish Hall, and each Sunday morning usually at 9:30 in the Nave. Our Children’s Choir rehearses at 11:15 pm following the 10:30 o’clock service on most Sundays during the program year in the Sanctuary.
A remarkable musician leads St. Paul’s music program: Marcia Hood, D.M.A., who became St. Paul’s music director in August 2011. Her primary responsibility is the Chancel Choir. Marcia is chair of the Department of Fine Arts at Albany State University.
